Both President John Dramani Mahama and the Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo will later today (Sunday), hold rallies in the industrial and port city of Tema.
The event is expected to draw thousands of supporters of the two leading parties in the country whose Presidential candidates are the front runners in the upcoming December 7 elections.
With a little over one month to the crucial elections, President John Mahama will use the opportunity to convince Ghanaians on why he should be retained in power, while Nana Akufo Addo will on the other hand convince the electorate on the need to vote out the Mahama-led government which he claims has been incompetent in governing the country.
The Public Relationships Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng has expressed the readiness of the police to provide security and ensure peace and order during the event.
“For the rallies that are coming up for the two major parties in the country, security arrangements are far advanced, we have our deployment plans detailed to cover up any security hole that my rear its head.”
