The Transition team on Monday, January 9, 2017 presented an interim report to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
At least 24 sector reports covering all the sectors of the economy were handed to the President after the head of the NPP’s transition team, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, briefed the President on the process so far.
The transition process has a life span of six weeks, however, the final report covering the entire process is billed to be available to the new government on February 10.
“We are still on the work of the Transition team because there are still some matters that have to be sorted out,” Osafo Maafo said Monday.
Meanwhile, the President was puzzled about the one-sided representation of the team which presented the report earlier today and sought clarification from the team.
But Mr. Osafo-Maafo stressed there were no cause for alarm because the outgone side of the team were cooperating fully in the exercise being undertaken.
“The working of the transition team is that your sector group takes over from the outgoing. We meet to discuss matters and in terms of the taking over, we’ve been given detailed handing over notes sector by sector. Using those notes, we visit specific Ministries, Department and Agencies(MDAs) to ask questions and get as much as we can. So this is your side what we have found so far which we are bringing to your attention.”
According to him, the executive report made available to his administration was adequate as it captured what ought to be prioritized within the first 100 days in office of the new government.
“We wanted this to be very advisory and at the same time informative, and useful for your administration to take off and hit the ground running,” he revealed.
President Akufo-Addo in receiving the report acknowledged the efforts of the team and the promptness attached their work so far.
