Government says a release purported to have been issued by the current administration turning down the request of former President John Dramani Mahama to maintain his official residence/office is fake.
A statement released by the Acting Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin on his facebook page minutes ago said the statement in contention was not authored by him, as the fraudulent letter also bears the same reference number of his release on the Gambian issue.
Meanwhile, the statement also cleared that there is no such agreement reached for ex-President Mahama to have his Cantonments residence- Bungalow No.3, Prestige Link and its adjoining facilities.
According to a statement released Sunday, ex-President Mahama has been occupying the Cantonments residence since his days as Vice President and had requested to use it as his retirement home, a request that was made before the end of his 4-year tenure President.
“We wish to state and confirm that per the information officially communicated to the newly inaugurated administration following discussions by the Joint Transition Team, President Mahama will continue to maintain his current place of residence as his retirement home,” the statement said.
