A former Presidential staffer, Kwadwo Adu Asare says it is undignified for ex-President John Dramani Mahama to still contend to maintain his official residence as his retirement home following the public bashing on the move.
According to him, it was an absolute breach of faith for an executive conversation supposed to be handled by special committee to be left to a “facebook matter” being discussed by all manner of people.
Adu-Asare in a recent Facebook post said: “I’m actually hurting inside so badly, that as a nation we are gradually losing our sense of decorum on matters relating to good governance and best practices. We have so soon developed a group of tyrants on new media (social media), which we use to terrorize and hoodwink the governance structure of our nation. Otherwise why will a joint- transitional team be constituted by an outgoing and an incoming government as stipulated by the transitional act, and then their decisions will be so undermined and pressured by a few incessant tyrants on social media seeking to break the resolve of leaders that we have chosen as a nation to take decisions on our behalf.”
Mr Mahama through his former chief of staff Julius Debrah was seeking his continuous residency at the Cantonment Property, following his exit from government, but the former President’s plea has been met with public bashing.
However, Adu-Asare maintained that the fall-out from the controversy on Mahama’s residence is a scheme by the NPP government to weasle out the plagiarism scandal of President Akufo-Addo.
“Of course the promoters have succeeded in dimming the issue but as to how much damage it has caused this nation, only posterity will determine,” he said.
On the back of the embarrassment, Adu-Asare implored his former boss -President Mahama to let it go, while they[NDC] look elsewhere in finding an accommodation for him.
