Police in Suame in the Ashanti Region have arrested the suspect who set fire to the building of his ex-girlfriend on Monday dawn which killed four persons at Breman Nkontwima, a suburb of Suame.
The deceased include a woman, her two children and her new found lover.
According to the police, the 28 year old suspect by name Godfried Nyamahe from Bolgatanga was picked up Tuesday at Atimatim Maase after a tip off. He’s said to have torched the house out of jealousy after the deceased lady broke-up with him.
The Suame Divisional Police Commander speaking on Kasapa News, said the suspect who himself sustained bodily burns when he set the house ablaze, is currently receiving treatment and will be arraigned before court as soon as he’s declared okay by Doctors.
The victims were burnt beyond recognition after they were allegedly locked in and set on fire by the suspect.
The charred bodies of Effia, her two children Adjoa 17, and Junior 8, and the yet to be identified lover have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Ghana National Fire Service had earlier indicated that they suspected a case of arson in that fire incident.
Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, on Monday Chief Fire Officer Fiadjor said the intelligence picked at the scene suggested that the incident was not a usual case of fire outbreak, suspecting the fire was set up by somebody with a criminal intent.
“We did our analysis and it could not be an electrical fire and judging from where the fire started from and all those clues we concluded that it is an arson with a criminal intent” he said.
He added;” we are getting some leads and all things being equal the person will be apprehended.”
