Management of Angel Group of Companies, manufacturers of Adonko Bitters has debunked media reports that it sold its popular brand of alcoholic beverage-Adonko bitters to large crowd of teens who turned up for the company’s annual Adonko Aseda Bash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
In a statement Friday, the management of the firm said, it is disappointed that the media chose to repeatedly distort facts and malign the integrity of the company in the said reportage.
A report churned out by graphic.com.gh said hundreds of revellers on Easter Monday had their senses knocked off by uncontrolled ‘dosage’ of the popular Adonko Bitters during the annual Adonko Aseda Bash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Twenty-four hours after the ‘all night’ concert, which attracted Oseikrom big guns as well as Dancehall King Shatta Wale and Bisa Kdei, the revellers, most of whom were in their teens, were still seen sprawled on the pitch gasping for breath, the report said.
But the statement by the Angel Group of Companies said” For the sake of clarity, the company did not sell its brand of alcoholic beverage to under-age drinkers. It is important to clear at this point that those who consumed the product were responsible adults that bought the drink themselves at the grounds.”
The statement further denied claims that there was a boozing competition for revellers which ended up in the hazardous alcohol consumption for many that participated in the event.
The company said it is mindful of the prescribed legal drinking age which prohibits the purchase of alcohol by minors and will not fall foul to the laws as a reputable firm in the industry.
It therefore noted that the reports were untrue, and entreated the public to disregard the skewed reports making rounds in the media.
