The New Juaben Municipal Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, Kwadwo Gyeke Darko has resigned over what some believe is due to political pressure.
The Controversial resignation comes on the heels of a week ultimatum issued to the Municipal NHIA Director by the Eastern regional Director of Communication of the ruling New Patriotic Party, David Prah, to resign from his post or face ejection.
Sources close to the Eastern regional Office of NHIA indicate that, Mr. Gyeke Darko tendered his resignation letter Monday Morning to bow out by the end of this month while on leave from July 20th, 2017.
The source at the regional Office of the NHIA indicated that, this is the second time the NHIA director has submitted his resignation.
According to the source, in December after the 2016 election, he resigned but was rejected by then regional Director, Alhaji Seidu Abdul due to his outstanding record as far as performance is concerned.
Mr. Gyeke Darko spearheaded Akropong Office of NHIA to win best district office in the region for 2010 and 2011.
When he took over New Juaben Municipal office subsequently, the office was adjudged best performing NHIA office in the region in 2013, 2014 and 2015 while in 2016, the New Juaben office was listed best among the well performed offices of NHIA nationwide.
But the Eastern regional Communication officer of the NPP, David Prah believes Mr.Gyeke Darko does not deserve to be in the office having served as Eastern regional Director of Elections for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2016 polls and the fact that he has consistently attacked the competency and character of the incumbent President, Nana Akufo Addo when he was the the opposition leader.
He warned that, he will lead thugs to eject the Municipal NHIA director if he failed to resign by close of Friday this week.
However, according excepts of the resignation letter tendered, Mr.Gyeko Darko explained that he has resigned to further his education having taken the decision months ago.
