The Koforidua District Magistrate Court “B” presided over by His Worship Eric Daning has remanded a 28 year old tailor and a resident of Suhum, Paul Lartey also known as Joseph Lartey into Police Custody over alleged stealing in Koforidua.
However, his 24 year old girlfriend Charity Addai, arrested for abatement has been discharged by the Court.
According to the Prosecuting Officer,Inspector Nelly Aflo, the complainant, Favour Tsormana, a trader on Sunday between the hours of 9:50am to 11:30am, together with his family left from their house at Bonya a suburb of Koforidua to attend Church Service however upon their return same day noticed that his room and store have been burgled and items including One LG 32 inch Flat Screen TV valued at Ghc2,000 ,unspecified number of half pieces Wax prints ,assorted drinks, Provisions, various recharged cards and cash of Ghc20,000 have been stolen.
The Prosecutor said, a neighbour’s CCTV Camera captured a Toyota Corrolla LE Saloon car with registration number number GX 2065-17 used by the accused to Carry out the theft.
On Tuesday, at about 2:20pm, the said vehicle was spotted at Suhum hence about 4pm, the Police of the accused person in charge of the car but met his girlfriend, Charity Addai, at the door but told Police that the accused was not in the house.
Police forcibly entered the room of the accused person and found him hiding inside the room, therefore arrested .A search in his room revealed various items including the stolen items and the Ghc20,000.
During interrogation ,the accused said he bought the items including the Ghc20,000 cash from someone (name withheld) in Accra.
He pleaded not guilty in court hence case adjourned to January 5, 2018.
There is strong signal that ,brother of the accused, a Suhum constituency Executive member of the NPP is making efforts to use Political powers to get the case out of court for settlement despite disagreement by the complaint.
