Beginning today, all 110 ministers of the Akufo-Addo government are expected to justify their continues stay in office as they’re assessed on their performance over the past one year.
According to government sources, President Akufo-Addo will hold a face to face encounter with each Minister and will subsequently use the result of the performance assessment to guide his first ministerial reshuffle.
The assessment will be based on a brief compiled by the Ministry for Monitoring and Evaluation over the past year on the performance of each ministry.
The Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Akoto Osei whose office prepared the brief will himself be assessed by the President.
Many Ghanaians continue to criticize Akufo-Addo for the appointment of 110, which they say is putting unnecessary strain on the country’s finances. However the president has said that he needs a big team to enable him deliver on his promises to the country.
It remains to be seen what action the President will take at the end of the assessment.
