The Assemblyman for Foase-Kobreso Electoral Area Fokuo Charles has called on President Nana Addo to as matter of urgency to dismiss the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti region Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi following the clash between the residents, military and the police team.
Residents of Foase on Thursday February 7, 2018 locked up the assembly building over relocation of District capital from Foase to Twedie.
Three persons were shot dead while others sustained injuries after the clash.
Fokuo Charles speaking in an interview with Abusua Fm’s Osei Kwadwo accused the DCE of being behind the shooting by the police officers which leads to the death of three persons.
According to him, their investigations have revealed that the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma constituency Hon Appiah Kubi ordered the police to kill residents of Foase to pave way for them to move the district capital from Foase to Twedie.
“The DCE is the Chairman of Atwima Kwanwoma District Security Council (DISEC) so he ordered the police officers to kill innocent souls just because he wants to move the district capital from Foase to Twedie. If the DCE listened to the Foase Chief’s advice concerning the relocation of the district capital the situation would have been different but he decided to use his power because he is DCE which caused the confusion. We want President Nana Addo to sack the DCE or face our wrath” he said.
He added that the Chief and the people of Foase are highly disappointed in government especially the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah for failing to visit the community after the death of three persons.
