An Accra High Court has ordered the Youth Employment Agency(YEA) to pay compensations to some 10 workers laid off.
The judgment was given in favour of one David Quarshie and nine others who sought legal remedies in the action taken against them by the agency.
The group dragged the YEA to court over unfair layoffs between November 2012, and August 2014.
The court ruled that the plaintiffs were unfairly and constructively dismissed and charged the agency to pay their salaries arrears with interest. The agency was also ordered by the court to pay general damages of GHs 6000 to each plaintiff and a cost of GHs 30,000.
Reports say the YEA is contemplating on appealing the case, as it is currently locked up in a meeting over the matter.
