At least some 67 officials serving at the Local government set-up have been transferred to newly created District Assemblies, to assume the role of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs), effective Monday 2nd April, 2018.
A letter sighted by Kasapafmonline.com from the Office of the Head of Local Government Service(OHLGS) and signed by its Head, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur directed the affected officers to report to their new post by March 15, 2018 for the inauguration of the assemblies.
The move comes on the heels of government’s creation of 38 new Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts, bringing the number of MMDAs in Ghana to 254 from the previous 216.
The Legislative Instrument(L.I) to back the creation of the new MMDAs was laid in Parliament by the Local Government Minister Hajia Alima Mahama on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
