The fourth edition of the Sports Fiesta by the Kaneshie Area Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost was a success as it sealed off the 2018 Easter festivities.
The annual fun games which was recently held at the Accra Academy Sports complex attracted thousands of youth from 21 Districts, Worship Centers and a PIWC under the Kaneshie Area.
The exciting performance of Chantan District was rewarding as they were crowned the overall champions at the 2018 Area Youth Ministry Sports Fiesta with a total points of 28.
Aside football, which was the main attraction for the day, other sports disciplines including volley ball, table tennis, eating competition, Lime and Spoon, Tug of War, sack race and athletics were keenly cotested.
Teams Old Fadama and Nii Okaiman, for distinguishing themselves creditably, were adjudged the overall second best team of the event respectively. Isreal and Darkuman Districts placed fourth.
Team Chantan went home with a trophy for being the best district in all disciplines.
Addressing the teeming youth at the Accra Academy school park, the Kaneshie Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mike Etrue lauded the idea behind the Sports Fiesta.
He encouraged the playing teams to use such events to nurture their skills.
Rev. Daniel Okyei Boakye, the Kaneshie Area Youth Pastor, told the youth members to use the sporting activities as a vehicle for evangelism as the world celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and also to foster unity among their peers.
“We are happy that Jesus has risen so we decided to come together as a family to have fun through sports, make new friends and win more souls for the kingdom of God,” he said.
