The collated voting results by KPMG at the 19th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has been revealed.
The late Ebony Reigns became the first female musician to win the ultimate award, “Artiste of the Year” since it inception in 2000.
The topmost award (Artiste of the Year) is based on 40% public votes, 30% Academy and 30% Board. The late dancehall artiste clinched the overall award as with an incredible total votes of 50.82% as against Shatta Wale who had 19.28%, Stonebwoy – 13.84%, Joe Mettle – 12.27% and Sarkodie – 7.39%.
The winners of various categories was determined based on votes by the Board, Academy, and the public. The votes were collated and certfied by KPMG, a partner of the award scheme.
Ghana Music Awards Festival is the biggest event on the Ghanaian music calendar.
It was powered by CharterHouse in partnership with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and sponsored by Vodafone Ghana.
It seeks to honour artistes and stakeholders in the Ghanaian music industry who have released works that generated the most public excitement within the year under review, and also reward veteran artistes who have blazed the trail in the music industry.
