This will be the second time writing about you since you became president of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG). The very first one if you will recall was to let you step aside as FIPAG president over allegations of financial malfeasance in ASORG of which you are an executive Member and representative for FIPAG members.
I am still amazed and surprised that members of FIPAG are still watching and cannot take any action to really straightened and put measures down to help the association. I want to know why are you are still holding on to your position and has not stepped down to help redeem your image and again why your executives and members are still looking on.
Mr president I have been observing from afar on how effective your leadership and control over FIPAG is going but there is more room for improvement.
I am going to touch on yet another blunder the executive council and you have committed. I am disappointed that this is happening in FIPAG under your watch. I read a statement signed by executive council of FIPAG about a one year ban placed on one Mr Habib Salisu (a Member of FIPAG). Mr president the content/reasons given for the ban were two.
1 – That he has shown insubordination to fellow members
2 – refuse to see executive council when he was called.
Mr president I am sure you are well vest when it comes to the constitution of FIPAG. I am therefore surprised and shocked as to how you have made the constitution to be undermined and misused to the benefit of some few sycophants within the association (FIPAG).
1 – How can executive council summon a Member just within 3days through a telephone call to travel from Accra to Kumasi, leave his official work because the case against him according to the reasons stated above is crucial. Mr president what does the FIPAG constitution say about conflict settlement!! The case against Mr Habib Salisu allegedly insulting a fellow member did not happen on the Whatsapp platform of FIPAG but ASORG.
The alleged disrespect and insubordination of which your executive council stood on to ban Mr Habib Salisu came as a result of another ASORG Member’s insults.
Mr president why couldn’t you call the two to order but rather ban Mr Habib Salisu? Mr president which of the pages of the FIPAG constitution clearly spell out punishment named “BAN”. I maybe naive about your constitution but which page again in the FIPAG (both draft and original) constitution talks about punishment for cases that happened on ASORG platform.
Mr president if you care to know page 4 of FIPAG constitution touches on only two ways of dealing with conflict in your association.
Conflict settlement- “conflicts between Members of the association and conflict between members of the association and the association itself shall be settled by a select committee to be appointed by the executive committee. No member of the association is allowed under this provision to seek redress or conflict settlement outside the association. All conflicts in the association must be reported to the executive council.”
Mr president was this article on conflict resolution with FIPAG used in the case of Mr Habib Salisu? Listening to the FIPAG public relations officer on radio on this case, the amateur PRO stated that though there is a constitution that guide the association, there are elders in the association so they can take decisions.. Ohh Mr president!!!
Another article which is clear under conflict settlement is what the constitution term as Expulsion of Members: “A majority of Members present and voting at annual or special meeting of the association may by resolution expel any Member whose conduct is in their opinion renders him/her unfit to be a member of the association. Any such person shall from the passing such resolution seize to be a Member of the association. Notice of t he annual General meeting and the agenda shall be given seven 7 days previously by circular to all members of the association.
Mr president as I write you, an official letter has not been given to Mr Habib Salisu but was sent on a FIPAG Whatsapp platform. Are all Members of FIPAG Members of the Whatsapp platform. Oh! is it the fact that Mr Habib Salisu is an auditor and he has what it takes to read in between the lines about how monies of Members are spent… So he needs to be axed?
Mr president I recall in my last article to you about what I call the biggest scandal ever to have happened in the creative industry – ASORG alleged corruption (financial malfeasance). I said you should step down. I think Mr president you need to RESIGN as president of the FIPAG and allow rule of law to prevail.
