Former Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Boss, Mr. Emile Short has called on the President and the police to provide full reports of the investigations done on Deputy Minister for Sports, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide.
According to him, the committee should give details on how they concluded to reinstate him.
Mr. Short told Starr FM’s Francis Abban on Morning Starr that, left to him alone, it is the responsibility of the authorities to provide the substantial reports of investigations conducted to prove that Mr. Hadzide, is clean of no charges.
“I would prefer that we have a full report of the investigation and the grounds on which the investigative body arrived at its conclusion which led to the exoneration of Pius Hadzide. The public has the right to know the reasons why public officials who are alleged to have been involved in an act of corruption are exonerated and the grounds on which that was done. The kind of investigation that was carried out and outcome should be known to the public. We should try and find out the investigation that was conducted by the police.” He said.
He also added that the office of the Special Prosecutor should be a bit more active as we are seeing, and that he hopes that sooner or later, things will be going as planned to ensure the efficiency of its work.
In conclusion, he urged the general public to help eradicate corrupt as he thinks there is a little effort from the general public when it comes to fighting corruption.
“There is some kind of apathy among the citizens when it comes to corruption. Many do not want to report others who may be involved in the act of corruption among others. I don’t think the general public has taken the fight against corruption more seriously. We as citizens should know that fighting corruption is to our own benefit.” He added.
