The Chief of Bohyen in the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region Nana Antwi Bosiako II has appealed to the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson to help his area to get an asphalt roads, drains and water.
According to Nana Antwi Bosiako II road networks in the community are very terrible and therefore need to be done to ensure a facelift of the area.
Nana Antwi Bosiako II speaking at the gathering when the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson during her tour in Ashanti Region said the major problems affecting the people of Bohyen are poor road networks, drains and water.
Nana Antwi Bosiako II however commended President Akufo Addo for his foresight in creating the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives which is responsible for infrastructure development in rural and deprived communities.
He also commended the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson for developing and changing fortunes of the deprived communities through her Ministry.
However the Queenmother for Bohyen Nana Owusua Empreho expressed worry about high rate of unemployment in the area.
According to Nana Owusuaa, robbery and criminal cases have increased due to high unemployment rate.
Nana Owusuaa appealed to the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson to help the community with police station to help reduce robbery and crime rate.
The Queenmother pledged to support Hon. Mavis Koomson to deliver.
Hon. Hawa Koomson assured the chief and the queenmother that, Government through her Ministry will develop and change fortunes in deprived communities as part of projects which will roll out through the $1 million dollar per constituency.
“Under the drive of the developmental authorities, the Ministry has already begun the construction of 1,000 limited community mechanized water systems with solar pumps and 1,000 10-seater community institutional water closet bio-digester toilets with mechanized boreholes in all the 275 constituencies. These projects are in addition to the 570 small dams and dug outs that have also started in the three (3) Northern Regions under the One Village, One Dam initiative under the supervision of the Northern Development Authority” Hon Hawa Koomson said.
Hon Hawa Koomson however assured that her Ministry will build police station for Bohyen community after a meeting with the Member of Parliament Constituency Hon Daniel Okyem Aboakye.
The Minister inspects an ongoing of construction of water closet bio-digester toilets in the community.
Similar toilet facilities ongoing in Ashanti Region are Biemso and Adugyama in the Ahafo Ano South-East District, Mankraso in the Ahafo Ano South-West District, Dwamena Akenten SHS and St. Jerome SHS at Offinso South district, Heman D/A and Afrancho Krobo in the Kwabre East Afigya Kwabre South District and Meduma in the Afigya Kwabre East District.
All the 47 constituency in the Ashanti Region are receiving 3 water systems and 3 toilet facilities each.
