The presidential candidate of the opposition NPP, Nana Akuffo Addo, says his leadership will not tolerate any form of violent behaviour within the party.
Speaking at a press conference at the Party’s headquarters Friday, Nana Addo who tasked the Party’s faithful to heed to a fasting and prayer request by National Women’s Organizer, Otiko Djaba, said he was hopeful the NPP will recover from the mess.
“I will not tolerate chaos within our party. The recriminations against ourselves in this period of healing, I repeat, must stop.
“On the contrary, we should all embrace the laudable initiative of the National Women’s Organiser who is launching, as from this Sunday here at the party headquarters, a week of fasting and prayers for the welfare of the NPP. I have no doubt that, with the help of Almighty God and by our collective determination, the storms that are currently buffeting the great, historic movement that the NPP represents will soon subside so that it can fulfil its mission of developing our nation in freedom.
Attended by Party big shots, the press conference comes days after calls were made for him to formally speak on the matter. Nana Akuffo Addo delivered a speech many have described as forward-looking, and which should shape an eventual truce.
The NPP is struggling to manage a messy leadership crisis that has seen key regional blocs of the Party petition the national office to have the Chairman and General Secretary impeached.
