The ongoing salvage operation at the burnt GOIL Filling Station at Nkrumah Circle will continue until Sunday, president John Mahama has announced.

“Such rescue operations will continue until the weekend, Sunday. On Monday, we will observe three days of National mourning for the victims of the fire disaster and the flooding. Flags will fly at half-mast from Monday for three days,” he’s said.

Wednesday’s inferno has resulted in over 200 deaths. Officials say they are still counting losses in an operation that has been successful so far.

Retrieved bodies have been deposited at the various hospitals in the Capital, Accra. The salvage operation is being carried out by almost all of Ghana’s security agencies.
