General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has dismissed claims by the Editor of the Punch Newspaper, Ato Sam aka Baby Ansaba that the PNC received monetary support from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in the Talensi by-election.

Baby Ansaba in an interview on Kasapa 102.3 FM’s Si mi So show Friday said the PNC’s support received from the NDC was not the first time and may not be the last either.

He further indicated that Bernard Mornah was aware that the PNC had received such support and was thus surprised to hear the General Secretary attacking the NDC for allegedly influencing the electorates, adding that the PNC will not receive help anymore should Mr Mornah continue this way.

However speaking in response to the issue on the same programme, Mr Mornah who expressed surprise over the assertion stated that the PNC ran the entire campaign on its own strength.

“This is shocking coming from Baby Ansaba, on Saturday ahead of the election I had to go for GH₵ 2,000 which was the last amount in my account to run our campaign. You can check from my bank, I dare anyone from the NDC to point out who received any amount on behalf of the PNC”

He said it was nauseating when someone sits in the comfort of his home to make spurious allegations such as is coming from Baby Ansaba.

“We are out there in the field working frantically and such unfortunate comment is made. If the NDC indeed sponsored us, the PNC would have won the election since we share the same stronghold in some parts of constituency”. Such an allegation injures the reputation of our candidate who worked very hard in this election”
