Ezenator Rawlings, daughter of the Founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, has confirmed her interest in contesting the Korle Klottey Constituency seat.

She has in effect, picked her nomination forms to begin the journey of unseating the incumbent, Nii Armah Ashitey, a former Greater Accra Regional Minister.

The forms, Kasapafmonlinecom learnt, was picked on her behalf Friday, by some party members who are very loyal to the family of the former Head of State.

Her decision to contest the seat has already divided the party in the constituency.

While some are of the view that she be giving the chance the contest, others insist she is a stranger in the constituency because she is “not even a card bearing member.”

Another party member, Leeford Kpakpo, who stood as an independent candidate in the 2012 Parliamentary elections because of some disagreements has also picked his nomination forms.

Mr. Kpakpo, this website was told, was the first to pick up his nominations forms at the constituency office at Tudu when the party opened nominations on Thursday, August 27, 2015.

There are indications that Nii John and one Awuku who have also shown interest in contesting the seat would also pick their nominations.

Should Ezenator go through the formalities successfully; she will come face-to-face with the incumbent, Nii Armah Ashitey, whose third term bid has been confirmed by the constituency Treasurer, Justice Amalai Tetteh.

Mr. Armah Ashitey, according to inside sources, is yet to pick his forms.

Nomination forms attract a fee of GH₵1,000.00 with the exercise scheduled to close on September 10, 2015.

Filling of nomination forms also attracts a fee of GH₵10,000.00.

Female aspirants and persons with disability shall attract a fifty percent of the filing fee. That means female parliamentary aspirants and persons with disability interested in contesting the parliamentary primaries shall pay GH₵5,000.00 as filling fee.

Vetting of prospective candidates immediately follows after the close of nominations leading to the polls which have been scheduled for November 27, 2015.

About 6000 branches of the party will be opened for the election during the primaries.
