Main opposition New Patriotic Party has made good their promise of pursuing the call for a clean electoral register by seeking audience with regional body ECOWAS over the matter.

The NPP is said to have met with the leadership of the ECOWAS as well as the presidents of Togo and Nigeria, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and the British and French Prime Ministers.

The party says it is a step towards getting the Electoral Commission to grant their request for a filth-free register.

The issue comes days after the Party held a news conference in Ghana’s capital, Accra, to drum home what they say is a fraud engineered over several elections.

General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong tells Anopa Kasapa host Fiifi Banson the current album of the EC is hugely flawed and cannot be considered for the upcoming elections.

Mr Agyepong reiterated the fact that other political parties like the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People’s Party (NPP) have also raised concerns over the register.

“A new voters register will go a long way to shore up public confidence in the electoral process and this is critical for the successful conduct of a peaceful, free and fair election in 2016.’’
