Founder and Chairman of the EIB Group, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has hailed the performance of Starr 103.5 FM over the twelve months of its existence in the media industry.
According to the former Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the progress made by the Ring Road-based radio station is beyond expectation. He’s commended management and staff of the media outlet for their hard work.
“If I look back, all that I can say is that God has been good to us. Just a year old business, if you look at the progress made, it is beyond expectation. Although it is man who manages a business but it is God who has helped us achieve where we are today,” said Dr. Duffuor in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Tuesday.
Starr 103. 5 FM, a member of the EIB Network, is today celebrating its first anniversary after breaking into the media space some twelve months ago.
The broadcast media outlet is one of the most listened to English stations in the country according to the last Ipsos report, and has one of the most influential personalities in the country as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the person of Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray.
Dr. Duffour commenting further told Banson that if he does a thorough analysis of the various businesses under the EIB Network, “I can only say our dream has come true”.
Empire FM, Ultimate FM, Kasapa 102.3 FM, Agoo FM, LIVE 91.9 FM, and Heritage Newspaper, also belong to EIB Network.
The group, which is Africa’s fastest growing media company has plans of rolling out four more stations in the Ashanti Region, Northern Region, Central Region and Eastern Region. A television station is also in the works.
When asked about what encouraged him to enter into the media business, Dr. Duffour answered:
“I have been in the media business for quite a long time. In 2002 we came out with a Newspaper publication called Heritage. At that same time, we acquired a license for Ultimate FM. So, Ultimate FM and Heritage has been in existence for quite some time now. Because the media is the fourth estate of the realm, it was important for us to all contribute our quota in a direction that will help build a better country.”
