President Mahama has directed the Ministry of Sports to pay the Black Queens players $5000 each, so that they can leave the M-Plaza Hotel where they had vowed not to leave until they are paid $23,000 each in bonuses, it has been reported.

The Ministry’s offer of $2,000 for each player was flatly rejected by the players, who won gold at the All African Games in Congo.

Accra-based Joy FM reported Tuesday that the $5,000 to be paid to the players does not form part of the bonuses, but is rather a special gift from President Mahama.

According to the report, the President, who is said to be upset by the treatment of the Black Queens, says he will “sort out” the team when he returns from the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
