The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union(ICU) has begun a campaign to stand for Ghanaian workers who are being exploited by their employers under the guise of contract or casual service in both the private and public sectors.

More employers are not ready to strike any better conditions in their engagement  with workers, creating inconveniences and also deepening the woes of workers under the prevailing harsh economic conditions.

However, the General Secretary of the ICU, Solomon Kotei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM says the situation is a disturbing trend and a way of exploiting workers nowadays.

“The fate of Ghanaian workers hangs; Most employers won’t engage their workers under permanent  contract so they can give better conditions of service to their workers. They have resolved to outsource employment to agencies that ultimately will not give workers who are employed under such condition any good employment deal,” he told Fiifi Banson Tuesday.

He’s insisted  employees cannot live under such regime, urging all employees who face these troubles not to compromise in reaching the ICU with such reports.

The ICU he said together with what he calls ‘All industrialists’ are yet to meet  to convey an official position to the Labour Minister on the issue.
