A political Scientist and Lecturer at the Methodist University, Dr Bonsu Osei Owusu has countered Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe’s claim that the ‘Rise and Build’ tour by Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo is a useless venture.
According to Dr Bonsu Osei Owusu, he strongly disagrees with that assertion insisting Nana Addo’s move is an intelligent and politically wise to move to get the party united and galvanized for victory in 2016 election.
Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe’s who is a founding member of the NPP, in an interview said the Rise and Build tour is not what will get the party united.
“If you start such a tour without principal players in the NPP then where are you heading towards?” he asked rhetorically.
According to him, at times he gets surprised at Nana Addo because there are things the latter is supposed to know – thus, he cannot win with a broken front.
“What my party needs at the moment is a very strong, united front and not Rise and Build whatever tour! A united front is key to success! If we’re not united, we should forget 2016, and truly, we’re not united! Anyone who will tell you the party is united is not telling you the truth,” Mr. Tamakloe emphasized.
However speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3, Dr Bonsu Osei Owusu maintained that the tour is exactly what will ensure the unity that Dr Tamakloe so badly wants for the party.
“Nana Addo’s tour is a timely intervention. The party’s’ primaries ended quite some time ago and so the more the leadership delays in getting the party unified, the more time it allows for those with grievances to want to contest as independent candidates. If the grassroots is united then the party is in a good position to forge a united front come 2016 elections”.
Meanwhile, Dr Bonsu Osei Owusu has passed a damning verdict on President Mahama’s performance scoring him thirty percent (30%).
According to him, President has been ineffective in dealing ruthlessly with his ministers most of whom are not proactive in the discharge of their duties.
“What country and economy are we building, we it takes workers to sleep at the premises of the Controller and Accountant Generals office before they are paid. If the President does not step in to say they striking workers should be paid, the ministers fail to act.
