The Environmental Health and Sanitation Task Force of La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) and the Police have arrested 21 persons who dumped refuse indiscriminately along the Madina-Adenta Highway.

Four people were also arrested for defecating openly.

The team embarked on the operations on the night of Thursday, December 24 and those arrested were made to pay a fine of GH¢ 100.00 each.

The Head of Sanitation Unit of LaNMMA told Journalists that the purpose of the exercise was to avoid illegal dumping of refuse during the Christmas festivities.

He urged residents of Madina to offload their waste to accredited waste management contractors.

Mr Quacoe further advised traders to dump their waste at the approved dumping sites to help keep the municipality clean.
