Former Striker of Accra Hearts of Oak, Gilbert Fiamenyo has attributed the poor performance of the team last season partly to poor training facilities.

A lot of factors have been attributed to the poor performance of Accra Hearts of Oak last season but the bulky striker believeS one key thing observers failed to acknowledge is where the team had been training before match days.

According to him, players need better facilities to train to keep them in shape in order to perform.

Speaking on Kasapa fm’s afternoon sports show, Dwidwamu, with Adam Adjei on Wednesday, Fiamenyo said “our training pitch did not help us at all; to tell you the truth the nature of the pitch did not befit the status of a club like Accra Hearts of Oak.”

He further quizzed why Accra Hearts of Oak should be training on a grassless pitch at the Tesano Police Depot.

“Let me tell you, there was a Slovakian agent who lost his respect for Hearts of Oak after witnessing the team train on the grassless pitch last week at the Tesano police depot. Hearts is a big club and we deserve a better training pitch than what they are training on at the Tesano police depot.”

Fiamenyo, who is currently not tied to any club, believes he will soon be back in action an improved player.
