EC boss Charlotte Osei

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei has dared pressure group, Progressive Nationalists Forum (PNF), to carry through its campaign to that is intended to see her out of office.

According to her, she remains unfazed by the attempt to cause her dismissal, saying they can do their worst if they may.

The Progressive Nationalist Forum, (PNF) led by its Convener Richard Nyamah has demanded the immediate resignation of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Charlotte Osei for holding on to another job.

According to PNF, the Chairperson of the EC has contravened article 44 clause 4 of the 1992 constitution which clearly states “the chairman and the two deputy chairmen of the commission shall not, while they hold office on the commission, hold any other public office’

But the Ghana Reinsurance Company Board, on the back of the allegations by the PNF against, Mrs Charlotte Osei, issued a statement insisting that the embattled EC Boss no longer sits as a board member of the company.

Mrs Osei in an interview with Kasapa 102.3 FM declined to confirm or deny if indeed she was still serving on the Ghana Reinsurance Company Board.

“My head is there, they should take it, and I’m not going to answer that question. Everybody has an opinion on any matter and so they are entitled to their opinion”.

Responding to calls for the Commission to make public the said letter it claims it sent to the Togolese EC, requesting for a copy of that country’s register, Mrs Osei stated that the commission will not hesitate to make copies of the letter available to anyone who asks for it.

“Anyone can come to our office and we’ll give you copies of our letters to the Togolese Electoral Commission and we can also show copies of their response to us on their letterhead, that should settle that matter.”
