Renowned lawyer and Lecturer, Prof. Raymond Atuguba has described as upset the demand for lawyers to wear gowns, wigs, bibs in court rooms across the country.

According to him, the prescribed attire is killing many lawyers and judges slowly considering the long hours they have to endure the heat condition in many court rooms and the general conditions in the country.

“Sometimes the temperature in Ghana exceeds 40 degrees Celsius, so the people who gave us the wigs and gowns are afraid to keep it on in temperatures we endure everyday. Yet the leaders of our fraternity have ordered that we continue to rob leaving us open to heat stroke, mental fatigue and also sorts of avoidable taxes on our bodies and minds.

Prof. Atuguba was speaking at a public lecture at the University of Cape Coast.
