Communications Specialist for the Ministry of Business Development, Kofi Twum Boafo has revealed that ten of the twenty contestants who could not make it to the grand finale of last month’s ‘Presidential Pitch’ organized by the Ministry of Business Development will each receive a laptop.

He explained that the Ministry with support from its sponsors will soon do the presentation to the ten beneficiaries to show appreciation for their participation in the contest.

Kofi Twum Boafo explained that a total of 1,787 young entrepreneurs applied an indication that young entrepreneurs in Ghana are filled with a lot of mind-boggling ideas.

“The ten who made it to the grand finale earned cash prices between 50,000 and 45,000 cedis respectively”, he added.

Asked about how the public responded to the maiden edition of the ‘The President Pitch’, the Communications Specialist added that the response from the public has been overwhelming especially this being the maiden edition.

Kofi Twum Boafo said his office has received several calls concerning when the next competition will be organized.

“The day was a very memorable one especially it being the first in Ghanaian history to see the President seated and listening to brilliant ideas from the youth.

It was really exciting seeing the President clapping as these young ones made their presentations and so basically it was an interaction between the youth and the President.

We are not talking about interaction where the President has distanced himself. You could tell that after interacting with these young entrepreneurs, the President was impressed”, he said.

The Presidential Pitch is a project designed to offer young Ghanaian entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years the opportunity to market their business ideas and get financial assistance to implement them.

The project is in line with the President’s vision to assisting young entrepreneurs to incubate their business ideas and improve livelihoods.

Judges for the competition were; Ebenezer Ato Simpson, Dzigbordi Dosoo and Dr. Daniel Mckorley, Executive Chairman McDan Group.
