The National Democratic Congress [NDC] Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak wants President Akufo-Addo to include his presidential staffers, CEO`s and their deputies at the various ministries in his [Akufo-Addo] upcoming ministerial reshuffling.
In his view, downsizing of the entire force of the government will reduce the pressure on the public purse.
“The president must get the right number of people presidential staffers to run the presidency effectively, together with the various Ceo`s and their deputies. So if the president want to downsize, he shouldn’t just look at the ministers, he should look at the totality of all his appointees and the fact that they all draw from article 71, if he does that, he will be applauded,” he told TV3.
He believes although the constitution does not limit the president as to how many people he can hire to work with, downsizing government to reasonable size will make a worthwhile contribution to stabilizing the public purse.
The President, Kasapafmonline.com understands is likely to release the list for the ministerial reshuffle in the coming days.
The exercise which is expected to shake the government appointees and introduce sanity into the system will see some ministers and deputy ministers being fired.
Some ministers will also be moved from their present jurisdiction to head other offices that will be assigned them by the President.
It is widely circulated, for instance, that the Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen will be moved from the trade and industry ministry to head the Ministry of Health.
The Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu is expected to be sent home.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu who has temporarily taken up additional responsibility as the interim Minister for Energy may stay at his current position to continue with the reforms exercise he is undertaking in the mining industry.
A substantive minister for the Ministry of Energy is expected to nominated by the President with the dice expected to fall on the Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea.
Dr. Mustapha Hamid, Minister for Information may be to move to head the Ministry of Zongo and Inner City Development.
Kasapafmonline.com is reliably informed that a deputy Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah may be pronounced the substantive minister for the Ministry of Information.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba may be booted out.
