The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the exhibition of the 2016 and 2018 provisional voter’s register.

The exercise, according to the electoral management body, will take place from October 25 to 31, 2018 and will start at 7:00am and end at 6:00pm on each day, including Saturdays and Sundays.

It will cover all the polling stations of the carved out areas for the referendum exercise.

The decision, understands, was arrived at a meeting under the umbrella of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) held at the Commission’s premises on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

Present at the said meeting were representatives of all the political parties, including, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A statement signed by the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Mensa and released in Accra moments after the meeting also announced the deferment of the second phase of the Limited Voters Registration and the planned continuous voter’s registration at all the District Offices of the Commission to next year.

“The modalities and the times would be announced after the Commission has consulted with the political parties, as required by law”, the statement in part read.

That notwithstanding, the Commission announced plans to set up the Representation of the People’s Amendment Act (ROPAA) Working Group, which would be made up of representatives of registered Political Parties and Civil Society Organizations.

The Working Group, according to the EC, would undertake nationwide consultations with other relevant parties. The working group would be tasked with the responsibility of defining the modalities, scope and timelines for the implementation of ROPAA.
