Residents of Akim Oda in the Eastern Region are questioning claims made by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta about the completion of a project in the area.

The Minister during the presentation of the 2019 budget in Parliament on Thursday stated that residents of Akim Oda and four other areas are benefiting from recreational centres that have been built by the government.

“…Mr Speaker, through the Zongo Development Fund, five recreational parks have been completed for use at Bolga, Salaga, Yeji, Tafo Kumasi and Akim Oda.”

But the residents have denied the Minister’s claims.

“The Finance Minister said they’ve built some recreational centres and the last name they mentioned was Akim Oda. My brother, if you go to the place right now, it’s like an evil forest. There’s nothing going on well, it’s like a forest. There’s a wire fencing around the place and that’s the only thing they’ve done and the place is bushy. No work whatsoever has been done there, they say they were going to build astro turf or something but no work has been done there so we were very surprised when we heard it in the budget statement.” One resident told Starr News
