The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has extended an invitation to the Speaker, leadership and Members of Parliament to grace the climax of his 20th anniversary celebration of ascending the highest throne of Asanteman.
This was done when a delegation of the Asantehene, Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye.
The nine-member delegation including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Osei-Mensah, was led by Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante, Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore, who is known in Private life as Nana Prof. S. K. B. Asante.
The delegation briefed the Speaker and leadership of Parliament about the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Otumfuo having ascended the highest throne of the Asante Kingdom in 1999.
The leader of the delegation speaking through the Chief Linguist of the Otumfuo, Nana Nsuase Poku Agyemang, told the Speaker that the climax of the celebration will fall on Sunday, April 21, 2019, where a grand durbar which coincides with Addae Kessie will be held.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye, having been briefed about the visit, pledged to honour the Otumfuo’s invitation.
He assured the delegation that he, together with the leadership and Members of Parliament, will be at the grand durbar in their numbers.
The Majority Leader who is also the Otumfuo’s Sompahene, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, commended the Asante King for doing a lot for his people and the country as a whole.
He assured of Parliament’s support to the King during his 20th anniversary celebration.
