Diego Costa’s red card from last weekend’s LaLiga Santander match against Barcelona could have even especially serious consequences for the striker and for Atletico Madrid.

It is being reported that he’ll be given an eight-match ban for the incident with referee Jesus Gil Manzano, who showed the Spain international a red card.

According to a report on the ‘El Partidazo’ programme on Cadena Cope and Radio MARCA, the Spanish FA’s competition committee are set to suspended the player for four matches for the insult and for four matches for grabbing the official.

There are only seven matches left in the league in the 2018/19 season, so he would miss the rest of the campaign.
