The Goethe Institut in Accra, as part of its 2019 Goethe’s Abansuro, A Night of Unplugged Acts on the Terrace, hosts one of Ghana’s young multi-award winning poet & spoken word artiste—Oswald Okaitei.

The act dubbed Goethe’s Abansuro:An Unplugged Night of Poetry Experience is slated for Wednesday, 8 May, 2018 at the Goethe Institut near NAFTI, Cantonments.

The eveningwhich promises to be thrilling is designed to present different forms of Spoken word acts, featuring works of renowned Ghanaian poets—Prof. Kofi Awoonor, Prof. Kofi Anyidoho, Prof. Lade Wosornu, Dr. Mawuli Adzei, Kwesi Brew—and poems written by Oswald himself. As spoken word comes with, the performances will be supported by different theatrical acts—music, dance etc.

Oswald, who has proven himself in the field of poetry and spoken word actsto be one of the finest promises of the field,over the years, has shared performance platforms with international spoken word icons as Muta Baruka, Prof. Atukwei Okai, Prof. Kofi Anyidoho, Rocky Dawuni among others. He has jointly performed with the Ghana Dance Ensemble, Abibgromma (National Drama Company of Ghana), the National Symphony Orchestra, Shidaa Cultural troupe among others. He is, if not the first, one of the foremost artistic creators in Ghana who have successfully stringed different poems into dramatic acts to the admiration of several audiences. Among his works in this regard are productions of poems by Prof. Lade Wosornu, Prof. Kofi Anyodohu and Dr. Mawuli Adzei in respective acts. The evening will also host a memorial performance for Emeritus Prof. JH Nketia.

Supporting Oswald’s Night of Poetry Experienceon the stage include Poet Lamer, Brownson the Poet, Poetess Dela, Abotreh, Emma the Percussionist, Hajia Alima (Dancer)and the Achievers Ghana girls. The event is free to the general public and commences exactly at 7pm.
