The Minister of Youth and Sports is scheduled to appear before Parliament later this week to brief the House on critical issues in Sports.

Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah is expected to brief MPs on the failed campaign of the Black Stars at the just ended AFCON 2019 as the team suffered a round of 16 exit in the tournament.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu informing the House about the impending address of the Minister said the visit may happen on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“The Minister responsible, Youth and Sports should be in the House to make a statement on the performance of the Black Stars. Mr Speaker, I have been in communication with the Minister and already he’s agreed to come to the House.”

Pressure is on the Ministry to touch on detailed Budget matters which was not available for media reports before the campaign.

Ghana budgeted $8million for the tournament with a $4.5m prize money for the winner.

The Black Stars failed to reach the semi-finals. Fans even before the campaign remained unenthused about the team’s performance to end a 37-year old trophy drought.
