A group calling itself, the Centre for Democratic and Accountable Governance (CEDAG) is demanding the removal from office of Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Bossman Asare.
The group is upset about the conduct of the Deputy EC Chair, especially in the lead up to the botched December 17 Referendum to allow political parties to participate in local government elections.
In a petition to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the group contended that Dr. Asare Bossman allegedly openly campaigned for a YES vote during a television interview is unacceptable.
This according to them has “cast a shadow of slur on him as a person that is not fit for the job of Deputy Electoral Commissioner.
“It is highly reprehensible, the conduct of the Deputy Chairperson Dr Bossman Asare who heads and oversees the election process of our country to take sides and openly campaigned in favour of a moiety of the opposing group,” the petition said.
A leading member of the petitioners, Dr. Asare Bediako told Anopa Kasapa Morning show host, Kweku Owusu Adjei that: “He’s being a problem at where he is. There are other people who already doubt his impartiality and if such a person should be part of the team that will superintend over the 2020 general elections, it would be dangerous. At this moment in time we want the President to clean up the mess as he did some time back.”
