The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has railed against Vice President, Dr. Bawumia saying the latter was naive in his criticism against him in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP government after boldly tagging him as incompetent is yet to take the country out of the woods in almost four years with their vain promises.

“You don’t run an economy with textbooks. You don’t run an economy with economic lectures. Running an economy takes practical work, determination and prioritisation,” the former president stated in an interaction with selected journalists on Thursday evening.

He said the Akufo-Addo-led administration is overwhelmed with the realities in government, but clearly bereft of innovative ideas as a leader to move the nation forward.

Offering some practical notes for the ruling government, for instance, Mr. Mahama said: “We can do the dualization of our major roads and toll them and collateralise their tolls, make the collection of tolls better, in terms of reducing human discretion…the money that is paid goes into a collateral account to pay for the cost of the road,” he suggested.
