The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has disclosed that the coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed the lives of three (3) Ghanaians.

These three, she noted, were all living overseas.

Of the three, two died in Italy while the remaining one died in Copenhagen, Denmark from the virus.

We are praying that Ghanaians living abroad keep the advice given by all those countries and make sure that they are safe. Don’t go out if you don’t have to unless it is absolutely necessary. Stay home”, she urged in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of Parliamentary sitting, Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Ghana, has so far recorded and confirmed seven (7) cases of coronavirus..

As at the time of filing this story, reported cases globally had reached 205,642 cases while recording 8,272 deaths, according to, a web portal that keeps track of confirmed coronavirus and its associated deaths and recovery.

A total of 82,889 have so far recovered from the virus, according to the web portal.

In Italy, there are 31,506 reported cases so far out of which the country has recorded 2,503 deaths with 2,941 recovered, according to the web portal.

Denmark has also recorded 1,044 cases with four deaths while only one (1) has recovered.
