The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Central Regional Chairman Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu has bemoaned the poor treatment meted to teachers by the government and the Ghana Education Service, especially in the Central Region.

According to him, the least said about the conditions under which some teachers teach in the Central Region the better and further questioned how a teacher can teach for almost three years without a single textbook.

Speaking at the 6th Quadrennial Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Delegates Conference, Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu stated that the implementation of the new curriculum is not necessary if the necessary textbooks are not made available, adding that the inability of the GES to supply textbooks is a major challenge.

On her part, the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Director of Education, Mrs. Sabina Otoo urged Teachers in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District to continue using their old textbooks to teach in the absence of the new curriculum textbooks as the content are the same.

She urged teachers to employ innovations in their teaching in order for their pupils to acquired knowledge.

Mrs. Sabina Otoo bemoaned the practice where some residents poor fecal matter (shit bomb) into classrooms of some schools.

She warned that Teachers will redraw their service from any Community where the reprehensible act continues.
