Wesley Girls students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed management of Wesley Girls’ High School to allow Muslim students at the school to fast in the ongoing Ramadan.

Reports are rife that the headmistress of the school prevented a Muslim student from fasting during the ongoing Ramadan. The development has sparked concerns among Ghanaians including some Muslim lawmakers.

A Press Statement by the GES following the development asked school authorities in the country never to block any student from fasting be ye Muslim or Christian.

However, the statement noted that parents ought to sign undertaking that they won’t hold the school liable for any adverse health implication of their wards as a result of the fasting.
