A colleague taxi driver of the man behind Mahama’s assassination attempt, Kwaku Fosu has revealed that Charles Antwi, whom many have suspected to be mentally unstable after his return from Libya marshaled some lay plans to get his botched Presidential ambitions nurtured.

He claimed Antwi solicited for well-built men like him together with other taxi drivers who were operating from Dadiesoaba in the Brong Ahafo region, whom he promised to hire as bodyguards should he succeed in becoming the President of Ghana.

He also reportedly dashed state security operatives at the castle with an amount of GHS 1000 each with the intention of helping him become the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, and the President of Ghana, an account which he(friend) and others saw as humorous.

Fosu intimated, along the line his friend became very concerned about the moral behaviour of those he had contracted to offer him security.

“He was advising me to stop alcoholism and other negative behaviour so that I can well manage the position he’d considered me for” he told Fiifi Banson Wednesday on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

Charles Antwi stormed the Ringway Gospel Centre Branch of the Assemblies of God church wielding a loaded gun with the intention of assassinating President John Mahama.

On Tuesday, July 28, an Accra High Court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri sentenced the accused to ten years imprisonment on a single count of  unlawful possession of firearm, of which he pleaded guilty to.

However, some section of the public, including some family members of the accused have accounted that Charles for sometime had been mentally deranged.
