The US government has revealed that Ghanaians living illegally in the United States of America and held by the US authorities are being processed for deportation in the next few weeks.
A charter aircraft will be arriving in Ghana in the next few weeks with deported Ghanaians from the USA, the US government has said.
“More will be returning…There will probably be a charter aircraft coming with some Ghanaians in the next few weeks,” the US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson disclosed in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM.
The Trump administration has been embarking on a massive deportation exercise of all nationals living in the US illegally.
Some 7000 Ghanaians have been affected, while a 100 Ghanaian illegal migrants have already been deported.
Human face in dealing with Ghanaian migrants
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has urged European countries to uphold the dignity of Ghanaian nationals in their respective countries, even if they are illegal migrants.
Addressing Heads of European Missions in Ghana, weeks ago, Madam Botchway said the government was putting in place measures to check push factors but called for a human face in dealing with the matter.
