The Central Regional Director of Forestry Commission, Mr Ebenezer Dagbletey is calling on government to intervene in ending attacks on staff of the commission even as they embark on their legitimate duties.

The staff according to him continue to suffer mob attacks including lynching and shooting by some communities and chain saw operators who feel threatened by the work of the commission in protecting the forest reserve.

Speaking in an interview with Kasapa News’ Central Regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, Mr. Dagbletey indicated that the continuous shooting and beating of their staff has left the commission with few men to with work as majority of the officers even fear to step out to respond to duties.

The attackers, he added use sophisticated gadgets to track the officers of the commission in the forest making them easy prey for such attackers who do not want the commission to stop them from destroying the country’s forest .

He is therefore calling for government to step in to equip them so that they can withstand the challenges that face them in the bush even as they engage in their legitimate duties.
