A Winneba High Court will this morning (Friday)hear a case in which a former Assemblyman, Kofi Kwayera is asking the court to declare as illegal the contineous stay of office of the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba.

The Court on Tuesday placed an injunction on principal staff of the school and governing council, stopping them from performing their duties.

The injunction comepelled the authorities at the University to close down campuses across the country and  asked all students to leave the various campuses.

Mr Kofi Kwayera, is also asking the court to declare null and void decisions including appointments made by both the Council and the Vice Chancelor.

He further argues that the law only entitles the council to a four year mandate which ended in 2013.

Per the directive of the court, the Vice Chancelor, the principal officers and their assigns whose appointments and promotions were effected by that Council ceases to function.

In the absence of these persons authorities of the University believe the institution cannot work effectively hence decided to shut down the school pending the outcome of the court case.
