Though there’s been alleged importation of plastic rice into the country, the Food and Drugs Authority has dismissed reports such claims.
A video Kasapafmonline.com chanced upon, shows foreigners abroad busily manufacturing and packaging ‘fake rice’ which is purported to be ‘Plastic rice’.
The FDA, as part of its mandate, in December, 2016 embarked on post market surveillance activities to investigate the said allegation.
The FDA did not find any of the said ‘plastic rice’ on the market but videos gone viral on Social Media recently claimed some food joints in Ghana ignorantly sell ‘Plastic rice’ as food for consumers.
The Authority therefore encouraged the general public to bring samples of any alleged ‘plastic rice’ to the FDA or give information on persons connected to the sale or distribution of such products.
