The Supreme court has scrapped the entrance examination and subsequent interviews for applicants seeking admission into the Ghana School of Law.

The apex court held that the existing mode contravenes Legislative Instrument 1296.

It would be recalled that US-based Ghanaian lawyer, Professor Kwaku Asare, started the legal challenge in 2015, and argued that the compulsory entrance examination and interview before admission violates Articles ll (7) 297 (d) 23, 296 (a) (b) and 18 (2) of the 1992 Constitution.

Per its ruling, the Supreme court has ordered for the cancellation process of the existing mode to be executed within a period of six months when the 2018 academic year begins.

The Ghana School of Law has limited openings for applicants[LLB graduates] which has been much criticized in the past.
