Kwesi Selassie known in music circles as “The Lion of Africa” is currently putting finishing touches to his 15th album to be released this year.

Kwesi Selassie, a native of Agona Nsaba in the Central Region of Ghana and currently residing in Canada shot into the limelight with his maiden album “Mr and Mrs Konkonsanyi” in 1992.

According to his Manager, Lhord Totem based in South Africa, “Kwesi is ready to release his 15th album made up of 18 tracks which took him almost five years and now in the studio recording. All the tracks are recorded live so people should watch out for the album. Kwesi is also looking at the JUNO Awards in Canada and the Grammy.”

The album features great artistes including Papa Levy, Sunray and Lord Sassafras all from Jamaica. Might Smasha from Ukraine, Aota, Japan,Trish;, Trinidad and Sam from Canada also featured on the album.

Other albums “The Lion of Africa” has to his credit include; “False Prophets,” “Judgment Day,” “2000 years of Love,” “The Lion of Africa,” “Survival,” ” Hakima,” “Promised Land,” ” Miss Awel,” “Aurelia,” and “Best of Kwesi Selassie.”

Kwesi Selassie has also shared stages and performed with the late Joseph Hill “Culture”, Lucky Dube, Mutabaruka and Anthony B.

Totem also disclosed to kasapafmonline.com that Selassie has released his Extended Play(EP) record with six tracks including; “Queen of my life,” “Hakim,” “Enemies of Progress,” “Rock Me Forever,” “Mr. President,” “Home to Mount Zion.”

He has over the years received many nominations and awards. Notable among them are Reggae Album of the year from African Heritage Music Awards, Toronto Canada in 2000 and an Award of Appreciation from the Jamaican Association, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
